GERING — Wayne High senior Bo Armstrong capped a three-year run at the Nebraska State Boys Golf Championships with a two-day total of 167 in Class B action at Monument Shadows Golf Course last week.

Armstrong got off to a rough start in Tuesday’s opening round, sandwiching triple bogeys around a pair of bogeys, but did recover on the back side with birdies on 14 and 16 to finish the day with an 84.

He fared a little better in Wednesday’s final round. After going 8-over par in the first four holes on the first day, he started out much better with a bogey, a birdie and two pars. He trimmed five shots off of Tuesday’s opening nine with a 41, but couldn’t keep the momentum going on the back and shot 42 to finish with an 83 and tie for 39th place.

Armstrong, who also qualified as an individual in 2021 and was part of a team that went to state in 2022, represented himself and his school well during his three trips to state, according to his coach.

"Bo wrapped up a great senior season with a solid performance in Gering,” coach Andi Diediker said. “Bo was a great leader for us all season, and he had a great career as a Blue Devil with three straight state tournament appearances."
