Charges were filed in Wayne County Court and the case bound over to Wayne County District Court against Michael Miller, 31, of Carroll.

Miller was scheduled to appear in District Court on Wednesday on five counts of Possession of Child Pornography. All are Class 2A Felonies and if convicted, each carries a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison.

The charges were filed on Feb. 12 of this year and stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between Feb. 1 and March 31, 2024.

On March 18, 2024 a report was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report indicated 69 files were found on a phone traced to Miller that were visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct  which has a child as one of the participants or portrayed observers.

Miller was interviewed on Oct. 29, 2024 and gave verbal approval to have his cellphone searched.

On Feb. 12, County Judge Ross Stoffer signed a warrant for Miller's arrest and fixed bail at $150,000. Miller was arrested and jailed that same day.

Miller is being represented by court-appointed attorney Kathleen Jorgensen.
