Lawn care and bridge work were two items on the agenda when the Wayne County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on March 4.
Commissioners discussed what has been done in the past in regard to asking for bids for both mowing and spraying of the lawn around the courthouse.
County Clerk Joni Tietz shared information with the commissioners on what the county has paid for these services in the past.
Commissioner Dean Burbach said he feels the county should go out for bids for the work and Commissioner Terry Sievers said he likes the idea of having one provider doing both the spraying and mowing.
Discussion centered on how to word the bid specifications to include spraying, fertilizing and mowing.
Bids will be accepted until March 27 and will be opened at the Tuesday, April 1 commissioner meeting.
Highway Superintendent Kyle Huff shared information with the commissioners on a recent meeting with Mainelli Wagner, the engineering firm that works with the county to design bridges and provides cost estimates for the projects.
Huff shared information on costs for several projects on the county's one year bridge improvement plan and said several of the items on the list are exact costs and several others are ready to go out for bid.
He noted that a number of the bridges in the county will be replaced by box culverts at a considerable saving to the county.
The final item on Tuesday's agenda involved an executive session with County Attorney Amy Miller and Deputy County Attorney Ted Lohrberg and the commissioners discussing personnel.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will next meet in regular session on Tuesday, March 18 at 9 a.m. in the Wayne County Courthouse.
