Dates are announced for high school graduations

As the calendar turns to May, high school seniors' thoughts turn to gradation and future plans.

Several schools in the area will hold graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 6 and others on Saturday, May 12.

Wakefield Community Schools will hold commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. 

This year's senior class is made up of 29. They have chosen "Chase your dreams but always know the road that’ll lead you home again."  -Tim McGraw as a class motto.

The class flower is a lily and the class color is baby blue.

The nine seniors at Winside Public Schools will graduate at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.

The class colors are Royal Blue and Nickel and their flower is a dahlia.

Their motto is : "We didn't realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun" by A.A. Milne.

At Wayne High School, graduation ceremonies for 73 Wayne seniors will take place Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. in the Wayne High School Gymnasium.  

The speaker at the 2023 commencement exercises will be Mr. Dale Hochstein, Biology/Science teacher at Wayne High School. 

In addition, featured addresses will be given by the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the class.

The Wayne High School Choir will provide music. The Wayne High Varsity Band will play the processional and the recessional.

Dr. Jodi Pulfer, President of the Wayne Board of Education, will present diplomas.

The Class of 2023 lists their class flower as a lavender carnation.  The class motto is: “Some people want it to happen. Some people wish it would happen. Other people make it happen.” – Michael Jordan

At Allen Community Schools, the nine members of the class of 2023 will receive diplomas during ceremonies on Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m.

This year's Class Motto is “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin”   Anthony Robbins

Class colors are Royal Blue and Gold and the Class flower is a rose.

Also graduating on Saturday, May 13 will be the 28 members of the Class of 2023 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School.

This year's class has chosen black, orange and white as class colors and a hydrangea as the class flower. The class song is "Vienna" by Billy Joel.

"Every ending is the beginning of something new" is the class motto.

Addresses will be given by Valedictorian London Ann Van Cleave and Salutatorian Sarah Judith Karnes.
