Jack Schlickbernd of Wayne, an Eagle Scout with Troop 174 recently completed an Eagle Scout project.

"For my Eagle Scout project, I installed a POW/MIA Seat of Honor at Eaton Field in Wakefield where I play American Legion Baseball," Schlickbernd said.

On Sept. 21 a dedication ceremony was held for the seat of honor along with members of local veterans organizations.

Wakefield Mayor Paul Eaton and local veteran historian Jim Clark were part of the ceremony.

"The empty chair will serve as an instant reminder of the sacrifices made for our country by these still-missing US Service personnel, over 81,000, who have, for too long, been forgotten by all but their families and close friends," Schlickbernd added.

The community of Wakefield has three POW/MIAs — LT Junior Grade Jean Paul Hart, US Navy (MIA Jan. 30, 1942); LTJG Allen W Keagle, US Navy (MIA April 2, 1945) and Sergeant First Class Willie E Stark, US Army (MIA Dec. 2, 1966).
