Dixon County Fair runs from July 6-10

Fair season is gearing up and the Dixon County Fair is the first in the area this year, running Wednesday July 6 through Sunday, July 10 at Concord.

Activities get underway on Wednesday, July 6 with entry of all Ag Hall 4-H and Open class exhibits.

Thursday morning will feature a free breakfast from 7:30 t0 9:30 a.m., sponsored by Farmer's Pride. 

The 4-H Horse Show begins at 8:30 a.m.

Also on Thursday will be the Bucket Calves/Return Bucket Calves Show and the Dixon County Open Class Beef Show.

The flag raising ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. and followed by the presentation of Pioneer Farm Family Awards and 4-H Volunteer Awards.

Entertainment on Thursday will be the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pullers with a big screen for optimal viewing.

Friday's activities include the 4-H Open Class Beef Show at 8 a.m., the Modified and Antique Tractor Pull at 11 a.m., the 4-H and Open Class Rabbit Show at 1 p.m., followed by the 4-H and Open Class Poultry Show. 

At 5:30 p.m. Billie J. Comedy will be in the grandstand.

Angie K will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by Ben Grillet at 9 p.m.

Saturday's schedule includes the Swine Show at 8 a.m., Sheep Show at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Goat Show and Cow-Calf Show.

The Demo Derby begins at 7 p.m. with several classes of vehicles competing. Check in for these vehicles is from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

The Wayne County Troubadours will be in the Beer Garden from 10 p.m. to midnight.

The final day of the fair, Sunday, July 10 includes a worship service at 8 a.m. at the fairgrounds, the Junior Leaders Omelet Feed from 8 to 11:30 a.m., Elite Showmanship Judging, the Open Class Horse Show and a Barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The afternoon will include a Kiddie Tractor Pull at 1 p.m., the 4-H Style Revue and Music Show and conclude with Barrel Racing at 6 p.m.

The Love-A-Lop Petting Zoon will be on the grounds as will an antique machinery display and carnival rides.
