If you are in the mood for some laughter then look no further than The Little Red Hen Theatre’s upcoming production of The Play That Goes Wrong, playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 17-19.
"The hit Broadway smash and Oliver award-winning play – part Monty Python and part Sherlock Holmes – guarantees to leave audiences aching with laughter," said T. Adam Goos, Managing Director of the theater.
The Play That Goes Wrong will be presented over three performances, March 17 – 19, and audiences are encouraged to get their tickets early to ensure they don’t miss out on the fun!
According to Goos, the original production is still performing Off-Broadway and in London’s West End and only recently became available to produce locally, giving Little Red Hen Theatre audiences a chance to see this “gut-busting” piece of theatre in their own back yard.
The play itself centers around a group of actors and technicians from the Cornley Drama Society, who are presenting their brand new production, “The Murder at Haversham Manor”. It’s opening night for their show and things go quickly from bad to utterly disastrous.
Nevertheless, the accident prone cast battles against all odds – including an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines) – to make it to their final curtain call with hilarious consequences. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—and more!
The cast and crew began work on the production in early February and in addition to learning lines have been practicing falling, sword-fighting, throwing punches, getting hit, catching falling props, putting out stage fires, and just to be safe – more falling.
Goos said “This cast has been working their collective tails off at making everything go wrong in just the right way – and it is absolutely hilarious”.
The cast features Barb Farup, Meg Engle, Audrey Loggins, Abby Wieseler, Jackson Pommer, Buffany DeBoer, Tyler Masek, Mike Pommer, Charity Potter, Katelyn Pommer, Sharon Boeckenhauer, and Cameron Turner. Sawyer Brudigam is assisting with lights and T. Adam Goos is directing.
