Holiday traditions include making memories

Posted

I don’t know about you, but this year has totally flown by, just about leaving me in the dust.

I am especially aware of it during this time of year. We are quickly approaching Christmas when all the excitement of the season will reach its peak. I had so many good intentions this year to continue my family Christmas traditions, as well as begin a few new ones, but alas, I simply ran out of time.

As I prepared to travel south for the holidays, I started beating myself up for not doing all the things I had fully intended to do, but then I stopped. What is the big picture here? Is it about all the crafts, the cookies, and the cards? Or is it about the memories I am making with friends and family? I would say the latter.

Even though we may fall behind on our yearly traditions or good intentions, we can rest easy knowing that we don’t have to get caught up in the tiny details and activities that often emanate from social media. Slow down and enjoy the moments you can share with the people around you.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as you continue holiday traditions, begin new ones, or simply live in the moment.
