Jacobson to take part in premier dog show

Dawn Jacobson has been in the realm of dogs for over 35 years, as a groomer and avid participant in dog sports.

Jacobson is the owner of Canine Design, which has been open in Wayne for 12 years.

This has been a year of goals for Jacobson and her Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier, Guerin. Back in December, Jacobson and Guerin traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the National Owner Handler Series Finals at the Royal Canin National Dog Show, where they won Owner Handler Best of Breed multiple times.

Now Jacobson will be doing what most dog show people dream of - competing in the 147th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Guerin will retire from the world of conformation shows following the completion of this show.

Prior to Guerin, Jacobson has been showing dogs off and on for about 25 years, exhibiting multiple breeds. She is now working with a young Irish Red and White Setter as her next project.

Jacobson said, “I just do this for fun. It’s a hobby that allows me to spend one-on-one time with my dog.”
