Jeannette (Riley) Giese, daughter of Hubert and Venice (Hayne) Riley was born May 15, 1923 at Norfolk. She received her education at Wayne Hahn Prep School and Wayne State College. She taught school in Ainsworth, Norfolk, and Wayne. Jeannette was united in marriage to Wilbur Giese June 6, 1948 at First Presbyterian Church in Wayne. The couple made their home in Wayne, then moved to their farm east of Wayne.

Jeannette was a member of the Christian Church in Wakefield and later Journey Christian Church in Wayne. She taught Sunday school for many years and was very active in Women’s Ministry. During these years she remained active in the Wayne School system, and later served as a substitute teacher.  She enjoyed music, reading, crossword puzzles and walking.  Most important, always, was her family and relationship with the Lord.

Jeannette’s Life Reflection “To be a wife to Wilbur, a mother to Breck, Shane and Gema, grandmother “Nana” to Judd, Lyndee, Jenna, Amanda, Cale and Meghan, and great grandmother “Nana” to Bodie, Ruby, Andrew, Henry, Beau, Bryce, Maya and Avery, has been my greatest dream to be fulfilled.”

Survivors include two sons, Breck (Kris) Giese of Wayne and Shane (Joan) Giese of Richland, Washington; one daughter, Gema (Phil) Rihanek of Lincoln; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; step-sister, Suzanne Steckelberg of Elkhorn; nieces; nephews; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, in August 2000; parents and siblings.
