Kris Giese recognized for positive impact on patients, community

Providence Medical Center recently congratulated Kris Giese, COO, for being recognized as one of The Top 100 Healthcare Executives of 2021. 

According to a press release from Alumni Spotlight, these individuals are being recognized for their positive impact on patients, communities, and their colleagues in the healthcare field. They are the cornerstone of patient care and operational excellence at each of the facilities and companies they lead. 

This year’s awardees guide medical centers and hospitals, health insurance groups, medical technology companies as well as other healthcare organizations and show their continuous dedication year after year. Their depth of knowledge, focus and collaboration has led to their career successes. Not only do they commit their time and energy to the healthcare field, but their work also provides hope and healing to so many in need. Their leadership is a crucial piece to the healthcare field and provides a foundation for continuous improvement and progress for individuals across the country.

Kris Giese is the Chief Operating Officer for Providence Medical Center (PMC), a position she has held since 2015. She has a long history at Providence with her first job as a nurses’ aide beginning in 1975, shortly after the hospital opened and has worked in several job functions through the years.  

Kris left PMC for a time to serve as the Director of Laboratory Services at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.  She also gained a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in 2004.  She most recently returned to PMC in 2013 as the Vice-President of Allied Health and Ancillary Services.

Providence Medical Center offers acute, skilled/swing-bed care, palliative care, as well as Medicare certified Home Health, Hospice, and private pay personal care. The non-profit hospital remains one of the best small, rural hospitals in northeast Nebraska, employing nearly 200 individuals, and providing state-of-the-art healthcare to more than 15,000 area residents.
