Funeral services for Margaret E. Kenny, 98, of Wayne, formerly of Carroll, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at United Methodist Church in Carroll. Visitation  will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 31 at United Methodist Church in Carroll. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Carroll.

She died Monday, May 27, 2024 at her home at Kinship Pointe in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to the Carroll United Methodist Church Building Fund and Elmwood Cemetery Association.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home Of Wayne.

Margaret Elaine Kenny was born April 2, 1926 in Carroll to JC and Minnie (Crowell) Woods. Margaret graduated from Carroll High School and attended Wayne Normal School for two years. Margaret taught school in Randolph, Traverse City, Michigan, Wayne, and Carroll. She married Merlin E. Kenny on May 25, 1950 in Randolph and together they farmed near Carroll.  Margaret was a member of the Carroll United Methodist Church, UMW District Officer, GST Bridge Club for 50 plus years, Extension Club, Legion Auxiliary, 4-H Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Carroll Women’s Club and Square Dance Club.  She was very proud of her good marriage, raising a great family, living a Christian life, her work as UMW  District Officer and serving as president or officer of every club she belonged to. A highlight in her life was being crowned queen at the 125th Carroll Celebration, she wore her crown often.

Survivors include her children, Ruth (Michael) Gearhart of Omaha, Sally (Arnold) Siefken of Jamestown, North Dakota, Jill (David Jones) Kenny of Caldwell, Idaho, Joseph (Kelly) Kenny of Carroll and Robert (DiAnn) Kenny of Wayne; sister-in-law, Bette Reimers Hess; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin in 1995; sons, Rick in 2003 and Jim in 2018; grandchildren, Jade Siefken and Wayne Gearhart.

 Honorary pallbearers will be Melissa Moreno, Emily Ternus, Kendra Kamlitz, Brie Bloomquist, Abby Woods, Grace Kenny, Liz Sharer, Holly Kenny and Hannah Kenny

Active pallbearers will be Handa Siefken, Ky Kenny, Levi Kenny, Jason Shultheis, Lucas Shultheis, Chris Shultheis, Chris Jones and Jeff Jones.
