Area residents are being encouraged to make plans to attend this year's Winside Old Settlers events, scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 17-19.

The event kicks off Friday with a number of family and kids' events.

These include a Slow Pitch Softball Tourney, Obstacle Course and 5K Run/Walk.

Saturday has been designated as Alumni Day and will include events such as a Sand Volleyball Tourney,  "Almost Golf" Tourney, Dodge Ball Tourney, Lawn Mower/Golf Cart Poker Run and Corn Hole Tourney.

Highlighting the day will be the Alumni Banquet at the City Auditorium. Honored classes will be those  graduates from years ending in "2." All classes are invited.

Food vendors will be located at the east end of the park, beginning at 5 p.m.

The evening will end with a Street Dance featuring Mason Michaels & Friends. It will be held on Main Street from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The final day, Sunday, June 19, is Father's Day and events scheduled include the annual Gene Topp Memorial Car/Truck/Tractor Show on Main Street.

Homemade pie and ice cream, provided by the churches in Winside, and a meal, coordinated by the Winside High School Band Department, will be available at the City Auditorium.

Also on tap for Sunday are a Book Sale at the Library, a Museum Open House, a petting zoo, bouncy houses and a LifeNet Helicopter Display  presented by the Winside Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

A Kiddie Parade, music by the Burt Heithold Band and a five-point pitch tournament round out the festivities.

The event is partially funded by a grant from the Wayne County Convention & Visitors' Bureau and proceeds benefit the Winside P.R.I.D.E.
