The Wayne High School Music Department competed in the 2023 NSAA District III at South Sioux City MS/HS. Participating schools included Allen, Bancroft-Rosalie, Emerson-Hubbard, Guardian Angels CC, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Pender, Ponca, South Sioux City, Wakefield, Wayne, Winnebago and West Point-Beemer.
Wayne took 28 vocal and eight instrumental entries to contest and received 32 Superior ratings and four Excellent ratings overall.
Individuals and groups received the following ratings:
Large Groups: Mixed Chorus, Treble Chorus, Bass Chorus and Jazz Choir all received Superior ratings. Concert Band received an Excellent rating.
Vocal Solos: All received Superior Ratings: Jacob Barner, Drew Fertig, Laura Hasemann, Riley Haschke, Abigail Hawthorne, Adrian Klinetobe, Grace Junck, Lindsay Niemann, Colby Raulston, Alex Schaffer, Sharon Vasquez, Evan Allemann, Gavin Anderson, Eli Barner, Aidan Bohnert, Olivia Hanson and Norah Armstrong
Vocal Small Groups: Mixed Vocal Ensemble, Eli Barner/Drew Fertig Duet, Norah Armstrong/Olivia Hanson Duet, and Ceilus Ibarra/Sharon Vasquez Duet received Superior ratings. Jacob Barner/Brayden Woehler Duet, Adrian Klinetobe/Alec Schaffer Duet received Excellent ratings.
Instrumental Solos and Small Groups: Aidan Bohnert Trumpet Solo, Avery Herman Trumpet Solo, Ceilus Ibarra Flute Solo, Maiah Davis Flute Solo, Trumpet Trio (Ceilus Ibarra, Norah Armstrong, Olivia Hanson) received Superior ratings. Flute Trio (Sharon Vasquez, Ceilus Ibarra, Katelyn VanHorn) received Excellent rating.
Outstanding Performance Awards went to Norah Armstrong (Vocal Solo), Gavin Anderson (Vocal Solo) and Ceilus Ibarra (Flute Solo). Honorable Mention Performance Awards went to Aidan Bohnert (Trumpet Solo) and the Mixed Vocal Ensemble.
