Local Quilt organization, Wayne PieceMakers Quilt Guild is hosting a Trunk Show and lecture presented by Sharon and Jackie of SJ Quilt Patterns on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. at the State Nebraska Bank Campus Branch.
Beginning at 10 am, the lively trunk show will feature Sharon and Jackie sharing antidotes and stories of their quilting adventures while revealing quilts made in their unique designs. The quilts range from traditional to modern, eye catching to whimsical. They will also demonstrate how to audition fabric to match your pattern. They will reveal some good and bad choices that they have made.
The public is welcome and there is no charge to attend. Sharon and Jackie will also have patterns available for purchase.
Presenters Sharon and Jackie are sisters, best friends, twins born 3 1/2 years apart! Quilting is their art, designing traditional quilts with a modern twist. They started sewing in middle school, and began quilting when their kids were grown, combined quilting for more than 40 years. In designing quilt patterns, they hope to "inspire people to take their sewing machine out of the closet, dust it off, thread the needle, and start sewing."
They provide patterns for all skill levels, where the only special tool you need is a desire to make something beautiful.
Wayne PieceMakers Quilt Guild generally meets on the second Thursday of each month, April through October, at 7 p.m in the Education Room at Providence Medical Center. The group also meets for extended sewing during the months of January, February, and March, usually on the second Saturday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Providence Medical Auditorium. Anyone in the area is invited to join the group with annual dues of $5. Besides fostering a joy for quilting, members share sewing tips and quilting ideas, and conclude each meeting with an inspiring Show & Tell. The club also creates a unique chicken theme quilt each year for the Wayne Chicken Show Quilt Raffle and baby quilts presented to the PMC New Year's Baby.
