Through the generosity and commitment of individuals and organizations in the Wayne area, the Wayne Area Legacy Fund (WALF) will have $10,000 of funds available to invest back into the community which was the year’s earnings from the endowment.

“We have successfully awarded funds back to the community for two grant cycles. This year marks another increase of available funds to Wayne and the surrounding areas.  We are pleased the contributions from our generous donors is making such a large impact!” said Bill Dickey, WALF Committee Chair.

Applications will be accepted until Jan. 31, 2022.

Recent donations from the Legacy Fund included $2,000 to Scout Troop #174 for a recycling bin and $2,000 to the Wayne FFA program for the chapter's beef project.

Eric Knutson, advisory board member, explained that the process to apply includes a simple application available online. For those who prefer a paper application, they may be picked up at State Nebraska Bank or F & M Bank.  Each request will be reviewed by the WALF committee and distributed accordingly.

“Community foundations are designed for individuals and organizations to come together, promote progress and ensure the quality of life in the Wayne area for generations to come”, explains Knutson.  The continued grant funding marks an exciting time in the WALF history, specifically indicating the future success of the endowment and the Wayne area.

Knutson further explained that there is still time to give to WALF.  The fund is taking commitments through 2022, with an annual goal to earn $150,000.
