The Wayne State College Student Activities Office and Spirit and Traditions Board are excited to welcome students and their families for Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Here is a schedule of activities: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
-Check-in at the Student Center atrium.
-Spin art, balloons and caricature artist (all free while supplies last).
-Purchase meal tickets from Chartwells.
-Pick up free tickets for planetarium shows. All shows are in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium, located on the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building. Enter through the southwest doors. Once inside, go to the stairs at the south end of the building or the elevator and go down to the lowest level. Carhart Science and the planetarium are handicap accessible. Doors open 20 minutes prior to the start of a show, and all shows last about 45 minutes.
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Natural History Museum (Carhart Science Building, room 113), admission is free. (Check out the giant bear!)
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Family brunch in the upper dining room in the Student Center (meal ticket required).
11 a.m.: “STARS” planetarium show.
12 p.m.: “Astronaut” planetarium show.
1 p.m.: “Oasis in Space” planetarium show.
1 to 3:30 p.m.: Games on the Green at the Bowen Hall lawn and the Hoffbauer Plaza by the Student Center (sponsored by the Residence Hall Association).
2 p.m.: “Earth, Moon, and Sun” planetarium show.
3 p.m.: “Eclipses and Phases of the Moon” planetarium show.
4-5 p.m.: Tom Kennedy – a free mentalist performance at the Ramsey Theatre (Fine Arts Building).
4 to 6 p.m.: Family dinner in the upper dining room in the Student Center (meal ticket required).
4:30 p.m.: Gates open at Memorial Stadium.
5 to 6 p.m.: Tailgate at Bob Cunningham Field (south end zone), tickets can be purchased on site.
6 p.m.: Football kickoff vs Southwest Minnesota State, tickets can be purchased on site (enjoy a fireworks display after the game!).
