The Wayne Speech Team took part in the Mid-State Conference Meet on March 1 at Battle Creek.
The event was co-hosted by all ten schools.
In the team sweepstakes, Wayne finished second by a razor-thin margin to champion Boone Central.
Individually for the Blue Devils, the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Norah Armstrong, Grace Junck, Ceilus Ibarra, Kennsyn Blecke, and Josie Ley placed fifth; Sophia Spieker was third in Entertainment; Gabriel Armstrong and Wanso Barner were third in Duet; Colby Raulston was second in Program Oral Interpretation; Ceilus Ibarra was second in Poetry; and Alec Schaffer, second in Serious Prose.
The following Blue Devils won first place in their events and thus were named to the Mid-State All-Conference Speech Team:
Olivia Hanson in Persuasive; Colby Raulston in Serious Prose; Alec Schaffer in Humorous Prose; the Duet of Aidan Bohnert and Alec Schaffer; and the OID group of Aidan Bohnert, Gabriel Armstrong, Colby Raulston, Gavin Anderson, and Johen Piper.
Next up for the Blue Devil Speakers is the rescheduled David City meet on Saturday, March 8 and Districts in Schuyler on Saturday, March 22.
