Two ranked opponents were on the schedule for then #11 Wayne State College volleyball over the weekend.
From Rice Auditorium, WSC picked up a 3-0 sweep over then #22 (now #25) Minnesota State-Mankato (25-23, 25-18, 25-21) during the annual black out match on Oct. 10 followed by a five-set thriller over then #10 (now #11) St. Cloud State (25-20, 34-36, 20-25, 25-19, 15-10) on Oct. 11.
WSC is now 15-3 (8-1 NSIC).
The Wildcats also re-entered the top 25 in the most recent poll at #7.
Sophomore Chloe Hanel recorded a double-double in the Saturday match totaling 18 kills and 13 blocks (t-school record with Tarrin Beller, 2018 and Emily Schroeder, three times). She finished with 18 blocks on the weekend.
In the sweep over the Mavericks, junior Channatee Robles posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs to go along with five service aces and a block.
Hanel (five blocks, four digs) and freshman Delaney Miller (one block, one dig) both had 12 kills.
Sophomore Molly Romano finished with 40 assists, seven digs, one kill and three blocks.
Freshman Mattie Kamery (six kills, one block) led the Wildcats in digs with 14 followed by sophomore Anna Borner with 12 digs.
During the five-set win against SCSU and following Hanel's big night, other double-double's came from Kamery (three blocks) with 14 kills and 18 digs as well as Romano (five kills, three blocks) with 54 assists and 13 digs.
Miller added 17 kills, two blocks and a dig.
Borner posted a team-high 21 digs while other double-figure digs came from redshirt junior transfer Reese Johnson (17) and Robles (14) who also won the match in the fifth with a service ace.
#7 Wayne State College will next visit Sioux Falls on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. before hosting #15 Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
