#15 Wayne State Sits #8 In Central Region Rankings

After being listed alphabetically among the first set of Central Region rankings, the second poll was numerically selected with WSC at eighth.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the #15 ranked team nationally sits #8 in this week’s NCAA Central Region rankings announced Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The NSIC, Mid-America Athletic Association and Great American Conference comprise the 39-team NCAA Central Region. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament December 5 – 8.

#2 (DII) St. Cloud State of the NSIC is the top team in the Central Region followed by #8 DII Concordia-St. Paul in second of the NSIC and #4 DII Nebraska-Kearney of the MIAA is third.

Other NSIC teams within the top 10 include #16 DII Southwest Minnesota State in seventh and #18 DII Northern State in ninth. No teams from the GAC are listed but will take one of the eight spots as an automatic qualifier.

The NCAA volleyball selection show will be streamed online on Monday, November 25 at 6:30 p.m. Central Time on NCAA.com.

Wayne State, ranked 15th in this week’s AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 20-6 on the season and tied for third in the NSIC with a 12-4 league mark heading into this weekend’s road trip to UMary Friday at 6 p.m. and Minot State Saturday at 11 a.m. The NSIC Tournament will begin on Tuesday, November 19 with matches also played into next weekend.
