Following a 3-0 sweep at University of Mary on Friday, #15 Wayne State College took on the northernmost team in the NSIC.
From the MSU Dome in Minot, North Dakota, WSC visited Minot State University on Saturday.
The Wildcats cruised to their 17th sweep of the regular season to improve to 22-6 (14-4 NSIC). Minot State fell to 2-25 (0-18 NSIC).
Scores of the match favored WSC 25-10, 25-16, 25-16.
Channatee Robles recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 11 digs to go along with one block; Molly Romano posted 38 assists, seven digs, one kill and one block as Brooke Peltz tied for the team lead in digs with 11.
Other double figure kills came from Brooklyn Kusler who added 13 kills and three digs as Taya Beller (.563) followed with 10 kills, one dig and four blocks (three solo). Laney Kathol (.750) tallied six kills and five blocks; Chloe Hanel tacked on two kills, one dig and four blocks as Ella Myler totaled one kill. Other digs came from Allie Petry (six), Anna Borner (six), Taylor Bunjer (one) and Kaelyn Andersen (one).
Peltz finished with three service aces, Robles and Kusler both added two aces as Romano and Rhianna Wilhelm each had an ace.
Wayne State College recorded a .421 hitting percentage and limited Minot State to .112. The Wildcats also held advantages of points (66-33), kills (48-28), aces (9-2), blocks (9-3), assists (43-26) and digs (48-36).
The 2024 NSIC Volleyball Tournament will open on Tuesday, November 19. WSC has earned the #3 seed and will host #6 Winona State University (18-11/11-7 NSIC) at 6 p.m. from Rice Auditorium.
Earlier this season, the Wildcats won in four sets at Winona State University (25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 29-27) on October 8
Regular season tie breakers were decided by strength of schedule.
The WSC/WSU winner will face winner of either #2 Concordia-St. Paul (21-5/16-2 NSIC) or #7 Minnesota State-Mankato (18-8/10-8 NSIC).
The other half of the bracket will showcase #1 St. Cloud State (24-2/18-0 NSIC) vs. #8 Sioux Falls (15-11/10-8 NSIC) along with #4 Southwest Minnesota State (23-4/14-4 NSIC) vs. #5 Northern State (20-6/12-6 NSIC).
The NSIC Semifinal and finals will then be hosted by the highest remaining seed. Dates are currently TBA with matches being played either Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 – 23 or Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 – 24.
