#2 Wayne State College advances to NSIC semifinal

NSIC quarterfinal volleyball took over Rice Auditorium on Nov. 18 where the #2 team in DII and the conference advanced to the semifinal round.

After dropping set one, WSC bounced back and secured a four-set win over seventh-seeded Northern State who was also receiving votes just outside the Coaches Poll (20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21).

#2/#2 Wayne State College (27-3) has now won 14 straight matches.

During the end of the regular season, WSC also secured weekend victories over Jamestown (3-0, 15th sweep on season) on Nov. 14 and against Northern State (3-1) on Nov. 15.

The 'Cats finished the regular season at 19-1 earning a share of the NSIC title (Concordia-St. Paul) but then lost the tie breaker based on strength of schedule.

Freshman Delaney Miller produced a team-high 65 kills in the past three matches including 25 during the NSIC quarterfinals. Junior Channatee Robles followed with 48 total kills and 49 digs along with a pair of double-doubles.

Sophomore setter Molly Romano finished with 151 assists highlighted by 63 in the NSIC quarterfinals.

Other leaders were sophomore Anna Borner who collected 42 total digs and junior Laney Kathold recorded 15 blocks (two solo).

The Wildcats will next face #3 (NSIC)/#11 (DII) St. Cloud State on Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in St. Paul, MN.
