Friends of the Wayne County Museum have announced plans to host 'A Christmas Country Tour' Nov. 15 and 16.
This year's tour fundraiser features five homes and the Wayne County Museum. Three of the homes are located outside of Wayne, prompting the name change.
On the list of homes is that of Melissa Dobbins, Elizabeth King (Rose Cottage) Karen Long and Mark Hill, Laura and Randy Nelson (Dreamer's Place) and Rhonda and Ron Sebade.
In addition, the Wayne County Museum, located at Seventh and Lincoln Streets, will be included in the tour.
Tour hours will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Tickets can be purchased at State Nebraska Bank, both branches, Elkhorn Valley Bank, Bloom and Grace, I Wet My Plants, Wayne Greenhouse, Thrift Warehouse, Swans and the Museum on the day of the tour.
In coming weeks, a description of the homes that will be on the tour will be included in the Wayne Herald, along with the address of each.
Laura and Randy Nelson
85726 575th Avenue
The Nelson home was built in 2000. Laura and Randy bought the home and 15 acres in 2022. The home is one of five buildings.
The other buildings and barn are home to Dreamer’s Place Equestrian Ranch, which is a therapy horse program for service members. Dreamer’s also has programs for adults and children with special needs, and has added Corporate Team Building activities to the ranch. Randy and Laura continue to provide a space to relax, unwind, and recharge with the ability to reconnect with the peace and quiet of the ranch.
Christmas is Randy and Laura's favorite time of year. They love to give the gift of time to everyone who would like to visit.
Ron and Rhonda Sebade
86068 573rd Avenue
The Sebade home was built in 1919 and was located in Wayne on Main Street where Verizon is now.
In 1985 the Sebades bought the house and moved it out to their farm. The house weighed 80 tons and they were fortunate to have a new bridge so that the house could get to the farm. Ron and Rhonda moved into the home in April 1986.
The four-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home has four stories with quarter sawn oak floors and woodwork. It has two sets of French doors, two built-in china cupboards and a fireplace.
They will be showing the first and second floors and also the upper level of the detached garage which they call "the cabin."
The Sebades added onto the kitchen in 1998.
Ron and Rhonda have enjoyed this home and feel blessed to have bought it.
