While it was time for the NSAA Class B bowling teams to take their turn in line for a state title, the Winside girls and boys as well as Wakefield girls and boys basketball teams were back on the court.

From Sun Valley Lanes & Games in Lincoln, #2 Wayne (28-3) picked up a 3-0 victory over #1 Lincoln Pius X (27-5) thanks to scores of 224-159, 196-181, 207-178.. This was a rematch from last year's finals where Pius X won 3-1.

The second-seeded Blue Devil boys began the morning with a 3-0 win over #7 Lincoln Standing Bear (250-208, 213-123, 135-133); won 3-2 against #3 Elkhorn North (268-247, 194-166, 224-229, 202-215, 214-184) and also picked up 3-0 victory during the semifinal round with #6 Lincoln Northwest (246-177, 202-170, 186-147).

The fifth-seeded Wayne girls suffered a 3-0 loss against #4 Lincoln Pius X (130-132, 146-151, 145-154) followed by a 3-2 defeat with #8 Humphrey-Lindsay (190-113, 126-159, 132-117, 88-125, 121-124).

From Winside, the Winside girls basketball team lost 40-26 while the Winside boys picked up a 45-43 victory against Stanton.

The Winside girls (7-15, dropped third straight) and boys (6-14, snapped nine game losing streak) will next visit Ainsworth on Feb. 13 at 6/7:30 p.m.


From Wakefield, the Wakefield girls dropped a 76-30 decision while the Wakefield boys lost 63-53 against Winnebago.

The Wakefield girls (3-19, droppeed fifth straight) will prepare for postseason play with subdistrict seedings to be announced on Feb. 12 and the boys (14-8) will close out their regular season hosting West Point-Beemer on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
