Alice M. Woodward, 94, of Wayne died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Wayne and the Greenwood Cemetery Association in Wayne.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Alice Mae was born Oct. 10, 1929 to Charles and Henrietta (Frahm) Baird on a farm southwest of Wayne. After graduating from Winside High School, she  received her teaching certificate from Wayne State College. For three years, Alice taught in Wayne County country schools. Alice married Henry Neyron Woodward June 11, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. After Neyron’s discharge from his military service, they began farming east of Dixon and later moved to a farm southwest of Wayne.  In 1971, the couple bought the family home place near Altona. Alice and Neyron farmed all of their married life. She also worked 10 years in the Wayne Care Center Kitchen.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Leonard) Urbanec of Pender; son, Gaylin Woodward of Wayne; grandson, Matt Urbanec of Wayne; sisters-in-law, Vivian Baird of Columbus, Ohio and Bonnie Baird of Wayne; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neyron, in 2018; sister, Doris (Thaine) Woodward; brothers, Russell (Arlene) Baird, Warren (Shirley) Baird, Edgar (Roberta) Baird, and Earl Baird; and brother-in-law, Jimmie (Shirley) Woodward.
