Wayne Seniors drop first game, bounce back in second on road
Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 made the short trip to North Sioux City, South Dakota for a Seniors only doubleheader on June 15.
Wayne dropped their first game of the season of 1-0 in game one followed by a 7-4 win. Post 43 Seniors are now 12-1 on the season.
During the first contest, Hayden Kelley doubled while Gavin Redden and Alex Rodriguez both singled.
Jaxson Kneifl (39 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings of relief allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out five batters. Gavin Redden (41) started the opening three innings allowing two hits while striking out three batters.
From the second outing, Redden singled, doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Kaleb Moormeier doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Jaxson Kneifl singled, doubled and scored twice as Drew Reinhardt doubled.
Hayden Kelley singled and drove in two runs; Ethan Synovec singled and drove in a run; Gavin Anderson singled as Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren scored.
Synovec (74 pitches) picked up the win in five innings of relief allowing four hits while striking out nine batters and walking one. Brodrick Tiedtke (69) started the opening three and two-thirds allowing three runs (two earned) off six hits while striking out six batters, walking one and hitting one.
The Wayne Juniors (8-2) were off this past weekend.
Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 picked up two wins on June 18 (Seniors 8-1 and Juniors 6-5 vs. Hartington) and will next visit Crofton on Friday, June 20 at 5:30/8 p.m. Juniors games will be played first. Post 43 will also compete in a Juniors only contest on Monday, June 23 at Hooper-Scribner at 5:30 p.m.
Post 81 sweeps Creighton
Two games were added to the Wakefield Post 81 American Legion baseball schedule hosting Creighton on June 14.
From Eaton Field in Wakefield, the Post 81 Seniors (4-6) won 3-2 while the Wakefield Juniors (2-5) secured a 9-8 victory in eight innings.
During the Seniors outing, Mason Lamprecht doubled twice and scored as Jesse Lundahl tripled and drove in a run.
Turner Thompson singled and drove in a run; Jacob Birkley singled and scored as Matthew Metzler scored.
Tanner Thompson (43 pitches) started the opening two and a third innings allowing two earned runs off three hits while striking out two batters and walking one.
Lamprecht (45) worked three and two-thirds allowing one hit while striking out three batters and walking one. Lundahl (19) closed out the final inning striking out three batters, walking one and hitting one.
From the Juniors contest, Birkley singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice as Ruben Vega singled three times, drove in three runs and scored.
Tristan Connell singled and scored; Landon Newton accounted for a RBI; Tanner Thompson scored twice as Matthew Metzler, Zeke Ramirez and Benny Palma all scored.
Newton (40 pitches) started the opening two innings allowing five runs (two earned) off two hits while walking two batters and hitting one.
Weston Patefield (35) worked an inning and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off two hits while striking out one batter, walking two and hitting one. Palma (57) pitched two innings and a third allowing one hit while striking out two batters, walking five and hitting one. Birkley (18) closed out the final inning and two-thirds allowing one run off two hits.
Post 81 split home games against Crofton on June 18 (Seniors won 2-0 and Juniors lost 12-3) and will next visit Pierce on Friday, June 20 at 5:30/7 p.m.
Post 43 blanks Twin River
Following Wednesday night action were two more home games against Twin River for Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 on June 12.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, the Post 43 Seniors won 13-0 sitting 11-0 at the time while the Wayne Juniors picked up a 12-0 victory to move to 8-2.
In the Seniors outing, Gavin Redden recorded a two-run inside the park homerun, singled, drove in three total runs and scored three times; Ethan Synovec singled three times and drove in three runs; Jaxson Kneifl singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Gavin Anderson tripled.
Alex Rodriguez singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Drew Reinhardt and Chase Nelson both singled and scored; Hayden Kelley singled; Kaleb Moormeier accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren added a RBI and run scored and Sam Etter-Gomez scored.
Synovec (44 pitches) picked up the win in three innings allowing two hits while striking out six batters and walking one. Brodrick Tiedtke (30) worked two innings striking out two batters and walking one.
During the Juniors contest, Parker Patefield singled twice, drove in two runs and scored three times; Chase Nelson singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Jaxson Kneifl doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice as Reece Ames and Blake Smith both doubled, drove in a run and scored.
Easton Endicott singled, drove in a run and scored; Spencer Moormeier singled and drove in a run; Chase Sturm scored twice as Aiden Peterson scored.
Camden Hall (86 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in five innings allowing one hit while striking out six batters, walking three and hitting one.

Following a busy weekend with wood bats, it was back to Ralph Bishop League play with aluminum in hand for Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne.

Wayne secured home wins of 6-3 in the Seniors game to remain undefeated at 10-0 and 6-1 during the Juniors outing to improve to 7-2.
During the Seniors contest, Kaleb Moormeier singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Hayden Kelley singled twice, drove in a run and scored as Ethan Synovec tripled, drove in a run and scored.
Drew Reinhardt singled and drove in a run; Gavin Redden accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Jaxson Kneifl and Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren.
Gavin Anderson (90 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing three runs off six hits while striking out nine batters.
In the Juniors game, Jaxson Kneifl doubled twice, drove in a run and scored; Easton Endicott singled twice and drove in a run and Brodey Munter singled twice and scored.

Ahead of home weekend competition, Wakefield Post 81 American Legion baseball was back on the road for mid-week action.
From South Sioux City Post 307 on June 11, Wakefield Seniors suffered a 3-1 loss falling to 3-6 while Wakefield Juniors (1-5) picked up their first win of the season thanks to a 13-7 result.
During the Seniors outing, Matthew Metzler singled twice and drove in a run while Adrian Flores singled twice and scored.
Jacob Birkley and Ruben Vega both singled.
Cael Johnson (100 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in six innings allowing three runs off four hits while striking out nine batters and walking four.
From the Juniors contest, Tanner Thompson singled three times, drove in a run and scored twice while Matthew Metzler singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.
