Wayne High alum and Nebraska high jumper Grant Anderson has punched his ticket for the NCAA Div. I Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., with his efforts in regional action Friday in the West Regional in Lawrence, Kan.
The sophomore cleared 7 feet, 1 inch on his first attempt to finish sixth in the event and qualify for the national championships, set for June 8-11 at the University of Oregon.
The mark bettered his previous season best during the outdoor season, a 7 foot, 0 1/4 inch effort at the Mark Colligan Memorial. He jumped 6-foot-11 and placed fifth during the Big Ten Indoor Championships this past winter.
