Several area athletes came home with medals competing among the best of the best in Northeast Nebraska at Thursday's Norfolk Track and Field Classic, held at Norfolk High School.
Cody Rogers brought home two individual medals to lead the area boys' efforts, placing fourth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. Wakefield's Esgar Godinez was second in the 400-meter dash.
In girls' action, Allen freshman Jordyn Carr won the long jump with a best mark of 18 feet. Wayne High seniors Masyn Dorey and Gabi Meyer both finished second in their events. Dorey improved her school record with a runner-up finish at 10 feet in the pole vault, while Meyer placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:28.80.
