Area athletes qualify for state track

Athletes from all five area schools will be competing in this week’s Nebraska State Track and Field Championships at Burke Stadium in Omaha.

Wayne will be competing in Class B events on Wednesday and Thursday, while LCC, TCNE and Wakefield (Class C) and Winside (Class D) will do battle on Friday and Saturday.

Field events all four days will take place in the morning starting at 9 a.m., with track events starting at 1:30 p.m.

Area athletes competing include the following:

Class B
Wayne — Brooklyn Kruse (shot put, discus), girls 3,200-meter relay (Jala Krusemark, Kyla Krusemark, Laura Hasemann, Kierah Haase), Elle Powicki (100 hurdles), Sedjro Agoumba (100, 200), Kyla Krusemark (400, 800), Laura Hasemann (3,200), Drew Miller (3,200), Alex Phelps (300 hurdles).

Class C
LCC — Tali Erwin (100 hurdles, high jump), Daniel Puppe (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, pole vault), Berniece McCorkindale (shot put), boys 400 relay (Daniel Puppe, Shane Benson, Gibson Roberts, Carter Kvols)
TCNE — Kiya Tornez (Long jump, 100, 200), Jackson Belt (high jump), Bre Millard (300 hurdles), Hudson Morgan (300 hurdles)
Wakefield — Cade Johnson (triple jump, 800), Makenna Decker (discus), Cael Johnson (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Jordan Metzler (100, 400, 800), Ryan Anderson (3,200), boys 1,600 relay (Cade Johnson, Franco Tapia, Ryan Anderson, Cael Johnson)

Winside — Aubrey Russell (Shot put), Kaden Hunt (300 hurdles)
