Here are Thursday’s area basketball highlights:

Boys Basketball
Bears upset by Battle Creek –
The Battle Creek boys pulled off an upset Thursday, knocking off state-rated Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 74-55 in action at Laurel. Jayden Reifenrath and Mason Forsberg each had 18 points for the Bears, while Izac Reifenrath added eight. LCC hosts Osmond on Tuesday.

Chiefs take care of Wildcats – Omaha Nation pulled away in the second half for a 66-42 win over Winside in action at Macy. Brandon Watters paced the Wildcats with 15 points, while Dylan Brogren added nine. Winside hosts Wausa on Friday.

Wausa boys defeat Eagles – The Wausa boys outscored Allen in Lewis & Clark Conference action 59-33 on Thursday in Wausa. The Allen boys play at Walthill on Monday.

Girls Basketball
Lady Bears fall to Bravettes –
Battle Creek used a big third quarter to outlast Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in girls action Thursday in Laurel, winning 54-40. Lorna Maxon scored a game-high 15 points in a losing effort for the Lady Bears, while Emily Hangman added 12 points. LCC hosts Osmond on Tuesday.

Omaha Nation runs past Winside – The Winside girls were outscored 32-6 in the first half as Omaha Nation picked up a 54-14 win Thursday in Macy. Callie Finn had 11 of Winside’s points, while Alex Bargstat scored three. WInside hosts Wausa on Friday.

Wausa girls outlast Allen – The Lady Vikings built a 13-point halftime lead and came away with a 49-32 win over the Lady Eagles Thursday in Wausa. Bri Hingst finished with 16 points for the winless Lady Eagles, while Madisen Schneiders had nine and Bethany Kneifl had five. Allen plays at Walthill on Monday.
