Boys Basketball
Bears handle Bulldogs on the road – The LCC boys got back on the winning track Friday with a 66-51 win at Creighton. The Bears jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back, with Jayden Reifenrath’s game-high 25 points leading the way. Mason Forsberg added 12 points and Izac Reifenrath and Trey Erwin each had eight. The Bears host Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday.
Winside boys fall at Wakefield – Wakefield put away Winside in the fourth quarter to come away with a 66-43 win in action Friday at Wakefield. The Trojans used a 20-7 second-quarter run to take a 10-point halftime advantage, then outscored the Wildcats 24-11 in the final period to finish off the win. Parker Lehmkuhl led four Trojans in double figures wiht 21 points, with Isaac Camarena and Israel Gardea each adding 14 points and Jose Sanchez scoring 12. Dylan Brogren paced the Wildcats with 14 points, JaShaun Vyborny added 12 and Colton Jensen put in seven. Wakefield hosts Stanton on Saturday, while Winisde plays at Randolph on Tuesday.

Girls Basketball
Lady Bears fall in overtime – The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears dropped a heartbreaker on the road Friday, losing in overtime to Creighton 46-42. The Lady Bears led by six going to the fourth quarter, but the hosts forced the extra session with a fourth-quarter comeback and carried the momentum through to the win. Katelyn Cook led the Lady Bears with 12 points, while Emily Hangman and Bethany Kardell each added eight. LCC hosts Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday.
Wakefield girls handle Winside – Wakefield got out to big lead early and defeated the Winside girls 70-36 in action Friday at Wakefield. The Trojans scored 24 points in the second quarter and took a 21-point halftime lead on their way to the easy win. Winside got eight points from Alyssa Brogren, with Callie Finn adding seven and Alex Bargstadt putting in six. Wakefield hosts Stanton on Saturday, with Winside playing Tuesday at Randolph.
Allen falls to Whiting – Bri Hingst scored a career-high 29 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Allen Lady Eagles dropped a 50-44 decision at Whiting (Iowa) on Friday. The Lady Eagles trailed by 15 at the half, but made a game of it with a fourth-quarter rally that fell short. Hingst’s 29 were complimented by four from Madisen Schneiders and three from Ally Twohig. Allen hosts Wynot on Tuesday.
