AREA BASKETBALL – LCC boys handle Gators

Here are Thursday’s area highlights:

Boys Basketball
LCC boys handle Wisner-Pilger –
The LCC boys took care of Wisner-Pilger on Thursday, posting a 67-58 win. The Gators cut an 11-point halftime deficit down to one, but the Bears rebuilt the lead on their way to the win. Jayden Reifenrath led three Bears in double figures with 17 points, Mason Forsberg added 14 and Izac Reifenrath scored 12. LCC, 14-5, closes the regular season next Friday at Wynot.

Winside falls at Osmond – Winside went on the road Thursday and dropped a 51-23 decision to Osmond. Brandon Watters and Dylan Brogren each had six points to lead Winside. The 8-11 Wildcats complete the regular season Thursday at home against Cedar Bluffs.

Allen buzzed by Bees – The Allen boys dropped a 55-40 home decision to Bloomfield. Chase Johnson led the Eagles with nine points, Tayler Kumm added eight and Garrett Brentlinger and Lukas Oswald each had seven. The 4-14 Eagles finish the season next Saturday, Feb. 18, at Omaha Nation.

Girls Basketball
Lady Bears fall short in home finale –
The LCC Lady Bears came up short in their final home game Thursday, dropping a 57-44 decision to Wisner-Pilger. Katelyn Cook had 12 points and Lorna Maxon added 10 for the Lady Bears, who open subdistrict play Monday against Plainview in Wausa.

Winside girls lose on road – The Winside girls dropped their final regular-season game of the year at Osmond on Thursday, losing 57-15. The Lady Wildcats will face Mead in the first round of subdistrict play Tuesday at Clarkson.

Bloomfield gets past Allen – The Allen girls dropped a 53-24 decision Thursday in their home finale against Bloomfield. Bri Hingst led a balanced attack with eight points, Madisen Schneiders added six and Kaitlyn Madsen had five. Allen opens subdistrict play Tuesday again Wynot at Hartington Cedar Catholic.
