Here are Monday’s area high school basketball highlights:
Boys Basketball
Wayne takes care of Wisner-Pilger – The Wayne High boys continued their winning ways with a 62-42 win over Wisner-Pilger in a makeup game at Wisner. The Blue Devils built a nine-point lead after one period and pulled away in the second half for the win. Jack Evetovich and Shea Sweetland each scored 11 points and Grayson McBride put in 10 for the winners. Wayne travels to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Tuesday.
Allen boys fall to Randolph – Allen’s boys dropped a 53-18 decision at home to Randolph. The visitors took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Allen 20-2 to take a 35-10 lead into the locker room. Tayler Kumm had six points and Chase Johnson added four for the 2-7 Eagles, who host Santee on Thursday.
Girls Basketball
Blue Devil girls outscore Lady Gators – The Wayne girls used a big second quarter to take control and post a 60-43 win over Wisner-Pilger in a makeup game Monday at Wisner. Wayne broke a 9-9 tie and took an 18-point lead into the locker room and were never threatened afer that. Kylie Hammer scored a game-high 26 points and Kelsey Boyer added 10 for the Blue Devils. Wayne plays at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Tuesday.
Lady Eagles overcome by Randolph – The Allen girls dropped a 47-19 decision at home to Randolph. The visitors got off to a 13-0 lead early in the game and cruised to the easy win. Bri Hingst had 10 points and Madisen Schneiders added six for the winless Lady Eagles, who play host to Santee on Thursday.
