Area boys subdistrict basketball starts Monday

Subdistrict basketball action for the five area high schools starts Monday as the teams battle for a trip to the state basketball tournament in three weeks.

Wayne is the top seed and host for their C1-7 subdistrict that starts Monday at Wayne High School with a play-in matchup between Winnebago and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. The winner of that game faces Wayne at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by a 7:30 p.m. game between Wakefield and West Point-Beemer.

The 12 subdistrict winners in each class and four wild cards will advance to the district finals. Matchups, locations and start times will be announced by the NSAA once subdistricts are completed Thursday.

Area subdistricts are as follows:

C1-7 Subdistrict at Wayne
Monday — No. 4 Winnebago (9-11) vs. No. 5 Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (7-15), 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdday — Winnebago/LV-SS winner vs. No. 1 Wayne (19-5), 6 p.m.; No. 2 West Point-Beemer (12-10) vs. No. 3 Wakefield (10-12), 7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Semifinal winners, 6:30 p.m.

C2-7 at Ponca
Monday — No. 4 Omaha Nation (8-14) vs. No. 5 Wisner-Pilger (2-19), 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday — ON/W-P winner vs. No. 1 Ponca (19-2), 6 p.m.; No. 2 Pender (19-5) vs. No. 3 Tri County Northeast (10-10), 7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Semifinal winners, 6:30 p.m.

C2-8 at Hartington CC
Tuesday — No. 1 Hartington CC (16-6) vs. No. 4 Osmond/Randolph, (6-15), 6 p.m.; No. 2 LCC (12-12) vs. No. 3 Crofton (7-14), 7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Semifinal winners, 6:30 p.m.

D1-6 at Plainview
Monday — No. 4 Winside (8-11) vs. No. 5 Homer (2-16), 7 p.m.
Tuesday — Winside/Homer winner vs. No. 1 Plainview (14-7), 6 p.m.; No. 2 Bloomfield (13-7) vs. No. 3 Waua (11-10), 7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Semifinal winners, 7 p.m.
