Wayne blanks Scouts for first win — After three tough games to start the season, the Wayne High football team took their frustrations out on David City and blanked the visiting scouts 48-0 on Wayne’s homecoming. The Blue Devils got out to a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back, improving to 1-0 on the season. Wayne travels to Madison for a 7 p.m. game next Friday.
LCC comes back to edge Homer — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears won their first game of the year with a thrilling 38-34 homecoming win over Homer. The Bears blew an 18-point lead and trailed 34-32 with two minutes left when Jayden Reifenrath returned a kickoff 65 yards for the game-winning score. LCC plays at Niobrara/Verdigre next week.
Winside falls in homecoming tilt — Winside couldn’t match visiting Scribner-Snyder as the visiting Trojans held on for a 44-34 win at Jim Winch Memorial Field. Brandon Watters passed for 144 yards and two touchdowns and ran in another for the 1-2 Wildcats, who play at Randolph next week.
Wakefield falls to Pender — The Wakefield Trojans suffered their first loss of the season, as Pender handed the Trojans a 46-22 defeat in action Friday in Pender. The 2-1 Trojans will look to get back on the winning side with a game at Plainview next week.
Allen cruises to blowout road win — The Allen Eagles won big on Friday, winning at Elkhorn Valley 66-6 to improve to 2-1 on the year. Allen hosts Wynot next week.
