Wayne shut out by top-ranked Knights — It was a historic evening as Wayne dropped a 35-0 decision to Norfolk Catholic in a key district matchup at Wayne State College’s Memorial Stadium. The win was the 344th for longtime Knights coach Jeff Bellar, moving him to the top of the all-time wins list in Nebraska high school football history. The Knights built a 29-0 halftime lead, then scored on the first possession of the second half to put the game out of reach. In spite of losing their third game in a row, the 5-3 Blue Devils still have a shot at the playoffs, making Thursday’s road game at O’Neill a must-win situation for Wayne’s postseason hopes.
