High school girls wrestling for Wayne and boys wrestling for Winside and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge all took place during the day before nightfall of Wayne High girls, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Tri County Northeast girls basketball.
WSC basketball games were postponed due to weather.
From Wayne, the Blue Devil girls basketball team suffered a 47-45 loss against Norfolk Catholic.
The Wayne High girls (9-7) are off until joining the Blue Devil boys (8-6, boys host Boys Town on Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m.) at Crofton on Jan. 20 at 6:15/7:30 p.m.
From Schuyler, the Wayne High girls wrestling team finished ninth with 91.5 points among the 23 teams.
Top Blue Devil medalists were posted by Nyla Bolles (140) winning her division while Alexandria Ziska (170) followed in second.
Megan Magnuson (130) finished fifth as Zoe Bolles (145) took sixth.
The Wayne High girls wrestling team will next compete at the Battle Creek Invite on Jan. 19 starting at 10:30 a.m. (boys in Schuyler on Jan. 17 at 9:30 a.m.).
From Weeping Water, the Winside boys wrestling team placed 10th (41 pts) among the 13 teams.
A pair of fourth place finishes were posted by Winside coming from Mason Edwards (144) and Asher Uttecht (150).
The Winside boys will next join girls for the Lewis and Clark Conference championships on Jan. 22 hosted by Homer starting at 11 a.m. (girls next at Plainview Invite on Jan. 17 starting at 10 a.m.).
From Laurel, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls basketball team won 66-46 while the LCC boys suffered a 55-54 defeat against Summerland.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls (9-6, won third straight) and boys (4-9, fourth straight loss) will next visit Neligh-Oakdale starting at 1:30 p.m.
From Atkinson, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys wrestling team scored 11 points to round out the 11 teams in action.
No medals were awarded to LCC as their top scoring wrestler was Paul Allison (175) with seven of the points.
Devyn Staples (275B) took runner-up.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys wrestling team will next join the girls team for the Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) championships on Jan. 22 in Plainview at 1 p.m. (girls next at Plainview Invite on Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.).
From Stanton, the Tri County Northeast girls dropped a 67-26 decision at Stanton.
The Allen/Emerson-Hubbard girls co-op (3-10, dropped sixth straight) will next be joined by their boys team (2-12) on Jan. 20 hosting Homer in Emerson starting at 4 p.m.
Wayne State College men's and women's basketball games scheduled to be played Friday night at Minnesota Crookston were postponed due to weather to Jan. 18 at noon and 2 p.m. (men play first).
The WSC men (9-7, 5-5 NSIC) and women (8-8, 3-7 NSIC) will next visit MSU Moorhead on Jan. 17 at 3:30/5:30 p.m.
