Area runners compete at state cross country championships

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls sent their team along with additional runners from LCC boys, Tri Country Northeast girls and boys as well as Winside girls were represented during the 2025 NSAA Class D State Cross Country Championships on Oct. 24.

From the Kearney Country Club, the LCC girls finished 15th with 111 points (out of 18 teams).

Senior Kate Tasler was the top LCC finisher in 28th during a time of 20:51.6.

Other results for the Bears came from sophomore Leah Gould (58th - 21:51.9), senior Addison Hoeppner (89th - 22:57.1), sophomore Ava Christiansen (97th - 23:13.6) and junior Faith Galvin (98th - 23:15.7).

Senior Alejandra Hermosillo from Tri County Northeast finished 64th (22:02.6) while freshman Avery Brummels from Winside placed 81st (22:37.6).

McCool Junction edged Crofton (30-31) in the team race. Crofton freshman Avery Arens set a new All-Class 5k course record in a time of 17:28.92 among the 121 Class D girls runners.

During the boys division, senior Shane Langford from Laurel-Concord-Coleridge placed 57th (18:23) while junior Jude Ridenour from Tri County Northeast finished 80th (18:41.1).

Doniphan-Trumbull won the team race with 24 points ahead of Tri County who placed runner-up (35). Junior Kaser Johnson from Doniphan-Trumbull won the Class D boys 5k in a time of 15:42.5 among the 131 runners.
