Area runners had a warm, sunny afternoon to compete in the 2023 Nebraska State Cross Country Championships Friday afternoon at the Kearney Country Club.
The Wayne boys finished 11th out of 15 teams in the Class C competition, led by freshman Emmanuel Gonzalez in 42nd place. Sophomore Drew Miller followed in 48th place, followed by Alejandro Archundia (52nd), Alex Frank (83rd), Boden Dobbins (94th) and Camden Hall (97th).
Ava Elliott represented the Wayne High girls in Class C competition, coming home in 46th place.
In Class D action, Faith Galvin of LCC finished 53rd and TCNE's Alejandro Hermosillo placed 71st. Bre Millard started the race but was unable to finish.
