Here are Tuesday’s area subdistrict highlights:
Wayne advances in C1-7 – The Wayne Blue Devils set a school record with their 18th win of the season in a 55-45 win over West Point-Beemer in the C1-7 subdistrict at Norfolk High. Wayne broke the game open early in their on back-to-back 3-pointers by Kelsey Boyer and Frankie Klausen and led by as many as 16 points in the second half. The Cadets got the lead down to five late, but Wayne iced it with free throws to advance to Thursday’s 6:30 p.m. subdistrict final against Pierce. Kylie Hammer had a game-high 23 points for the 18-6 Blue Devils, Boyer added 11 and Klausen had 10.
Winside advances in D2-2 – Winside got their second win of the season and moved on to the D2-2 subdistrict finals with a 57-46 win over Mead at Clarkson High School. Winside broke the game open in the third with a 14-5 run to build a 12-point lead and came away with the win to move on to Thursday’s 7 p.m. matchup with Humphrey St. Francis. Callie Finn had a game-high 22 points, Sarah Wolfe added 15 and Alex Bargstadt put in 13 for the winners.
Allen’s season ends in D2-3 subdistrict – Allen couldn’t keep pace with top-seeded Wynot and ended their season with a 59-29 loss to the Blue Devils in action at Hartington Cedar Catholic. Wynot led by 11 after one and increased the lead to 20 by halftime to cruise to the win. Madisen Schneiders led the Lady Eagles with 14 points and Bri Hingst added 10.
