Here are Thursday’s area volleyball highlights:
Allen sweeps Emerson-Hubbard — Allen came up with a win at home Thursday with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-21 win over Emerson-Hubbard. Desi Martell had 15 kills, Summer Jackson added 11 and Bri Hingst put down nine to lead the Lady Eagle attac. Cassidy Thomas had 37 assists and a team-best three ace serves. Thomas led the defense with 20 digs, Martell added 18, Hingst had 15, Haley Stapleton picked up 13 and Carly Dickens had 11. Allen is at Randolph for a triangular on Tuesday.
Winside over .500 mark with win — Winside swept Blooimfield in straight sets, 25-12, 25-17, 25-12, to improve to 5-4 on the season. Hope Cummins led a balanced net attack with eight kills and three blocks, Alyssa Brogren added seven kills and Fauneil Olander put down five attacks. Sarah Wolfe had 11 assists and Brooklyn Behmer added nine. Olander had six ace serves, Brogren had five and Behmer had three. In digs, Olander led with 12, Andi Bargstadt picked up 10, Behmer added eight, Cummins had seven and Wolfe and Halyee Cummins each had six. Winside is at Wausa on Tuesday.
Trojans take down Pender in three — Wakefield earned a win on the road Thursday with a 25-22, 25-10, 25-20 decision at Pender. Jessica Borg led the team with 12 attacks, Devaney Brown added seven and Breanna Chase and Emma Pommer both had five. Chase had 14 assists and Borg added eight. Andrea Lopez and Chase both had four ace serves in the win. Defensively, Rachel Brudigam had 12 digs, Lopez and Brown each had 11 and Chase and Borg both had eight. Wakefield will see action in a triangular at Randolph on Tuesday.
