AREA VOLLEYBALL – Area teams triumph

Here are Thursday’s area volleyball highlights:
Winside takes sting out of Queen Bees — Winside had no problems with Bloomfield at home Thursday, posting a 25-13, 25-18, 25-6 win. Alex Bargstadt had 10 kills and four blocks, and Callie Finn had 10 kills and two blocks to lead the WInside net attack. Bargstadt and Sarah Wolfe had 14 and 12 assists, respectively. Finn recorded a season-high seven ace serves. Haylee Cummins led the defense with 16 digs, Finn had 11 and Fauneil Olander had 10. Winside hosts Wausa on Tuesday.
Allen wins five-set thriller — The Allen Lady Eagles claimed an exciting five-set match at Emerson-Hubbard, winning 25-27, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11. Bri Hingst had a career-high 19 kills in the win while Haley Stapleton added eight and Kaitlyn Madsen hit for four. Stapleton and Hingst each had nine digs while Cassidy Thomas had eight. The Lady Eagles play in a triangular at Wakefield on Tuesday.
Lady Bears handle Pirates — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge volleyball team improved to 3-6 with a 25-19, 18-25, 25-12, 25-17 win at Plainview. Kaci Groene had 15 kills and five blocks to lead the net attack while Bryn Schtte added 11 kills and three blocks and Katie Leapley had six kills and three blocks. Katelyn Cook had nine assists, Schutte had four ace serves and Mady Holloway led the defense with seven digs. LCC plays at the Stanton Invitational on Saturday.
Wakefield falls to Pender in four — Wakefield fell in four sets to Pender in volleyball action, losing 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-13. Briana Andraded had 11 kills, Megan Borg added seven and Savannah Nelson put down six for the Trojans. Borg had three blocks, Jessica Borg had 12 assists, and the defense was led by Megan Borg with 19 digs, Andrade with 17, Jessica Borg with 12 and Giulia Ballarini with 11. Wakefield hosts Allen and Randolph in a triangular on Tuesday.
