Here are Thursday’s area volleyball results:
Wayne falls at home to Crofton – Wayne struggled in a Mid State Conference matchup at home, losing to Crofton in straight sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-16. Lindz Sandoz had nine kills to lead the Wayne attack, while Allison Echtenkamp had seven and Melinda Longe and Emily Armstrong each had six. Brenna Vovos had 20 assists and Sandoz added 12. Kylie Hammer led the defense with 16 digs. Wayne plays at Battle Creek on Thursday, Oct. 13.
LCC sweeps visiting Queen Bees – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge made quick work of visiting Bloomfield at home, winning 25-9, 25-13, 25-5. Kaci Groene led the attack with nine kills while Katie Leapley had seven kills and three blocks. Bryn Schutte had seven kills and six ace serves. Katelyn Cook had 14 assists, and Ashley Wolfgram led the defense with seven assists. LCC hosts Wakefield on Saturday.
Winside falls to rated Wynot – In a battle of rated Lewis & Clark Conference teams, Wynot defeated Winside 25-20, 25-14, 25-23. Alex Bargstadt had 10 kills, seven blocks, 13 assists and 22 digs for the Wildcats. Alyssa Brogren had nine kills, Sarah Wolfe had 14 assists, Marissa Remm had 19 digs, Callie Finn added 18 digs and Fauneil Olander had 15 digs. Winside plays Randolph and Bloomfield in a triangular on Saturday at Randolph.
Allen drops match to Hartington – The Allen Lady Eagles dropped a three-set match to Hartington-Newcastle, losing 25-12, 25-21, 25-10. Bri Hingst led the Lady Eagle attack with 10 kills, Desi Martell added seven, Haley Stapleton had four and Kaitlyn Madsen had three. Cassidy Thomas had 20 assists. Hingst had 15 digs and Madsen had eight. Allen plays at Whiting, Iowa on Tuesday.
