AREA VOLLEYBALL -- Wayne sweeps GACC on the road

Here are Tuesday’s area volleyball highlights:

Blue Devils sweep GACC — The Wayne High volleyball team had no problems at Guardian Angels Central Catholic, taking care of the Bluejays in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-6 sweep. Kylie Hammer had nine kills and Ashton Boyer added a career-high eight kills in the win. Lauren Pick had seven kills and four ace serves. Allison Avery put up 20 assists and had two ace serves. Defensively, Pick had three blocks and Avery added two. Emily Armstrong had nine digs, Hailey Backer added six and Avery had five. Wayne plays in the Ord Invitational on Saturday.

Lady Bears handle Emerson-Hubbard — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge picked up a straight-set win at home Tuesday, defeating Emerson-Hubbard 25-8, 25-22, 25-15. Lorna Maxon had 12 kills and three aces, Bryn Schutte and Delaney Ehlers had six kills apiece and Ashley Wolfgram added four to go with 13 assists. Abbie Bloom had seven assists and seven ace serves. Maxon had 10 blocks, while Chloe Hauptman and Erica Wolfgram each had three. Schutte had 14 digs, Madysyn Holloway had nine and Delaney Ehlers had six. LCC hosts Plainview on Thursday.

Trojans fall at home to Howells-Dodge — The Wakefield volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Howells-Dodge, 25-17, 25-19, 25-14. Jessica Borg had seven kills and Devaney Brown and Breanna Chase each had five for Wakefield. Andrea Lopez added two kills. Borg and Chase each had eight assitss. Emma Pommer had three blocks and Borg added two. Lopez had 18 digs, Borg added 14, Jamie Dolph had 13 and Brown added 11. Wakefield plays at Pender on Thursday.

Winside wins road triangular — Winside took two wins in a triangular at Osmond, beating the hosts 25-23, 25-23 and edging Homer 25-22, 25-19. In the Osmond match, Andi Bargstadt and Fauneil Olander each had five kills, Hope Cummins added four and Alyssa Brogren had three. Brookly Behmer had 10 assists and three ace serves, and Olander added three aces. Bargstadt and Behmer each had seven digs, Olander added six and Sarah Wolfe had five. Against Homer, Brogren had seven kills and Olander added five. Behmer had eight assists and Wolfe had five. Olander had four ace serves and Cummins added three. Behmer had 11 digs, Bargstadt added 10, Olander had eight, Brogren added seven and Cummins had six. Winside plays at Bloomfield on Thursday.

Lady Eagles split home triangular — Allen went 1-1 in a home triangular Tuesday, losing to Ponca (25-13, 25-13) and defeating Winnebago (25-9, 25-13). Haley Stapleton had four kills and Bri Hingst and Summer Jackson each had three in the Ponca match. Cassidy Thomas had nine assists. Stapleton led the defense with 10 digs, Thomas added eight and Hingst and Desi Martell each had seven. Against Winnebago, Hingst had 14 kills, Stapleton added eight and Jackson had seven. Thomas had 12 ssists and four ace serves, while Hingst had five ace serves. Carly Dickens and Martell each had seven digs. Next up for the Lady Eagles is a home date with Emerson-Hubbard on Thursday.
