Here are Tuesday’s volleyball results:
Wayne wins in consolation semis – Wayne took care of Boone Central/Newman Grove in the consolation semifinals of the Mid State Conference tournament Tuesday in Pierce, sweeping the Cardinals 26-24, 25-18, 25-17. Allison Echtenkamp led a balanced net attack with 11 kills and five blocks, while Shania Anderson and Lindy Sandoz each had six kills. Emily Matthes had four ace serves. Brenna Vovos had 19 assists. Matthes led the defense with 18 kills with Kylie Hammer adding 15. Wayne will play in the fifth-place match Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Battle Creek.
Wildcats settle for fourth in L&C – Winside came up short in the consolation finals of the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament Tuesday, losing to Creighton 25-21, 25-16, 25-21. Callie Finn had eight kills, Alex Bargstadt added six and Sarah Wolfe and Andi Bargstadt each had four. Wolfe had 12 assists and Alex Bargstadt added eight along with five blocks. Haylee Cummins had three ace serves and Andi Bargstadt and Fauneil Olander each had two. Defensively, Andi Bargstadt had 18 digs, Alex Bargstadt added 16, Cummins had 15, Wolfe had 12 and Olander had 11. Winside plays at Lindsay Holy Family in their regular-season finale on Friday.
