A fourth straight road outing took over the Friday afternoon schedule for Wayne State College women’s soccer.
From Morstad Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, WSC visited Augustana University to open the weekend.
Thanks to a pair of second half goals in the final 10 minutes of the match, the host Vikings secured the 3-1 victory.
Augustana is now 6-4-2 (5-2-1 NSIC) as Wayne State College fell to 4-5-3 (3-3-2 NSIC).
The Wildcats were first on the board from Erin Peters in the 15th minute (14:22) off an assist from Paige Pemberton.
A few minutes later, Augustana answered in the 18th minute.
The game was tied at 1-1 going into the half.
It took until the 83rd minute of the match (82:09) for Augustana to score a second goal which was followed in the final minute of the match (89:03) with a third goal.
Final favored the Vikings winning 3-1 over WSC.
Peters placed her lone shot in the back of the net while Pemberton added a shot on goal with an assist.
Both Riann Daas and Maia Vacks added shot attempts.
Sidney Truman was in goal for all 90 minutes. She recorded six saves but allowed three goals.
Augustana outshot Wayne State College, 10-4 including 9-2 on goal. The Vikings recorded six corner kicks compared to three by the ‘Cats.
