After what seems to many as a short summer (specifically for kids), it is time to head back to school for area students.
The majority of area schools will start the 2025-2026 school year on Thursday, Aug. 14.
At Laurel-Concord-Coleridge students will have an early dismissal that day with classes being dismissed at 1 p.m.
In Allen, the school will be continuing the tradition of having a "Back-to-School Night" for all Preschool through 6th grade students & parents on Tuesday, August 12th. The night begins with a
Children's Parade (sponsored by the Community Club of Allen) beginning at 4:30 p.m., followed by a Community Club Picnic at 5 p.m. From 6 -7 p.m. the school invites the students and parents to tour the classrooms and meet staff members.
In Wakefield, the first day of classes will be Thursday, Aug. 14
At Winside, there will be a Community Back-to-School Barbecue on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition, there will be an Elementary Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. and New Student and Seventh Grade Orientation at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

At Wayne Community Schools, an Open House will be held at each of the schools - Early Learning Center, Elementary School and Junior Senior High School Tuesday, Aug. 12. These will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and allow younger students the chance to bring supplies to their classrooms.
School for the 2025-2026 school year will begin on Thursday, Aug. 14 with a noon dismissal.
Breakfast will be served for all students and lunch will be available to kindergarten students.

Preschool: 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday;
7:50 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and
7:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays.
Kindergarten through second grade: 8 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
Elementary School:
8:05 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:05 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
Junior High and High School:
8:05 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:05 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
