August can only mean one thing for students - time to give up summer freedom and head back to the books.
The majority of area schools will start the 2026-2027 school year on Thursday, Aug. 13.
At Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, students will have an early dismissal that day with classes being dismissed at 1 p.m.
In Allen, the school will be continuing the tradition of having a "Back-to-School Night" for all Preschool through sixth grade students and parents on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
In Wakefield, the first day of classes will be Thursday, Aug. 13 with a 1 p.m. early dismissal.
At Winside, there will be a Community Back-to-School Barbecue on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m.
At Wayne Community Schools, an Open House will be held at each of the schools - Early Learning Center, Elementary School and Junior/Senior High School on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
School for the 2026-2027 school year will begin on Thursday, Aug. 13 with a noon dismissal.
