Beat the heat with these summer tips

Posted

It may seem like the low temperatures are here, but the high humidity and temps will be on the rise again for the summer and into fall months as a recent social media post shared by the Wayne Green Team will be something to make note of.

Per the 'Keep Nebraska Beautiful' Facebook page, 'Summer heat can get dangerous fast, so it's important to know ways to keep cool'.

A few 'sustainable' tips were shared:

- Run your ceiling fan counterclockwise

- Wear breathable fabrics like cotton and linen

- Clean your A/C unit of dirt, dust, pollen and debris

- If you don't have A/C access, find locations where you can stay cool

- Cook smart, use appliances that generate less heat

- Black out the sun's heat

Also, the Wayne Green Team shared a top five list of recycling stats:

1 - Recycling one aluminum can save enough electricity to power a TV for three hours (aluminum cans can be recycled an unlimited number of times)

2 - If every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250 million trees each year

3 - Recycled paper requires 64% less energy than making paper from virgin wood pulp

4 - Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to run a 100-watt light bulb for four fours

5 - 75% of every vehicle is recyclable
