Tarrin Beller of Wayne State College was named the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week following her performance in two NSIC matches last week.
Beller, a 6-foot junior middle hitter, averaged 2.10 kills and 2.00 blocks per set in matches last week against Sioux Falls and No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State.
She tied a single game school record, held by WSC and NSIC Hall of Famer Emily Schroeder Jones three different times, with 13 blocks to go with nine kills in a 3-2 road win at Sioux Falls. Beller added 12 kills and seven blocks in Saturday’s 3-2 home setback to Southwest.
For the season, Beller leads the NSIC averaging 1.36 blocks per set and tops the Wildcats in kills per set at 2.61.
